Two former Grainger County jailers pleaded guilty to various charges stemming from a TBI investigation.

Jacob Layel, the son of former Grainger County Sheriff Scott Layel, pleaded guilty to theft under $500 on Monday. A judge sentenced him to supervised probation until Nov. 29 and dismissed a charge of official misconduct against Layel.

Tyler M. Farrow also pleaded guilty to introducing contraband into the jail. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 26.

TBI started investigating the Grainger County Detention Center after three inmates escaped in November. Officials didn't realize that the inmates were missing for several days.
