2nd degree murder, drug charges among Union Co. Grand Jury indictments

A Union County grand jury indicted seven people for either providing drugs or assisting in the introduction of drugs in to the Union County Jail.

The arrests come after Union County inmates told authorities that illegal drugs were provided to an inmate in the jail and later died at Tennova Hospital in Knoxville. An autopsy was unable to determine whether the drugs killed the inmate.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation took over the case and arrested the seven suspects on Friday night. In a joint effort, TBI, U.S. Marshals and Union County Sheriff's Office arrest Allen Wilkerson, 48, Dakota Kidd, 20, Sheridan Brogdon, 29, Albert Allen, 31, Robin Wilkerson, 43, Cregory Thatcher, 26, and Johnny Johnson, 32.

Union County Sheriff's Office, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and US Marshal Service arrested 14 people on various charges including second degree murder on Friday night.

Union County Sgt. Mike Butcher said a Union County grand jury indicted Jerry Richard Masingo of Sharps Chapel on charges of second degree murder and set a $100,000 bond. Officers also arrested Tracey Lee Williams for accessory after the fact.

Authorities arrested Robin D. Wilkerson, Allen P. Wilkerson, Dakota R. Kidd, Sheridan D. Brogden, Johnny R. Johnson, Albert Moore Allen, and Cregory E. Thatcher for conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility. All seven suspects live in the Maynardville or Corryton area.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Department, TBI arrested Mark S. Smith of Maynardville on aggravated assault and domestic assault charges.

Union County deputies charged Todd Lee Hutchinson with arson, burglary, theft of property over $1,000 and vandalism.

Deputies also arrested William T. Hickman of Speedwell for three counts of aggravated rape and domestic assault.

Dale Frank Gilette faces charges for manufacturing marijuana and simple possession. Authorities arrested Bradley Eugene Warwick for violating his probation.
